 The most important things that you can do is tracking.  Track your food intake, track your exercise, track your measurements.  Basically you become a tracking fool.  Now I will admit that I am by far not the best at this.  Some things I don't track on a regular basis.   In my journey I have joined a few FaceBook groups and the use of apps is very popular.  Beginning use of apps can be confusing so I have done some research and hopefully these youtube videos will help you if you are having problems.  I have picked what seems to be the top apps discussed in these groups.

My Fitness Pal aka MFP

This is the app I use.  It is not only a smart phone app but they also have several different fatures:

  • Two levels of membership; free and a paid version.  The free is quite comprehensive!
  • Food database that contains over 1 million food items.  Brands and restaurant foods are all included.
  • Your own personal database.  Your food choices are remembered and you have the ability to enter your 
  • Goal tracking - weight, measurements, exercise, calorie intake plus the ability to print reports on your progress using the computer
  • User Forums and the ability to connect with friends if desired
  • Blog containing interesting articles
