- Cottage cheese MUST be blended to a fine ricotta like consistency. The tiniest lumps do hurt.
- Coffee just sucks with DPM milk. DPM is 1 cup fat free milk (in my case Lactaid) mixed with 1/3 cup dried non fat milk.
- Regular powdered CoffeeMate is only 7grams of sugar, well within the accepted amount.
- Take the liquid meds you take right before bed in plenty of time to let them settle so you don't have to sit on the side of the bed waiting to lay down. The dog isn't able to stake claim on as much bed then. (see picture)
- The feeling that you are about to puke is not plesant
Trying coffee was an experience. First at this stage of the diet it must be decaf which in itself is a tragedy. But thinking I was doing good I set aside my regular powdered coffee mate for the DPM milk. I don't know why I tried this as I have never liked milk and coffee unless we're talking a Mocha latte. All drinks must be sipped, including coffee. Drinking coffee like one regularly does, ie gulping can bring about pain and feeling that the coffee will revisit you causing you to grab your handy puke tray that you are carrying everywhere. Also you need a warmer of some sort, candle warmer or coffee cup warmer because in sipping the coffee it turns cold and cold coffee is just nasty. Unless of course it's an Iced Mocha Latte.
On the subject of liquid meds. Liquid vitamins are just nasty. I don't care what flavor they say it is, it's bad. There is no way to throw that 1 tablespoon down your gullet so you won't taste it. If you have to take 2 medicine cups of medicine before you go to bed give yourself enough time for it to settle before you go to the bedroom. Otherwise you will sit on the side of the bed holding your puke tray squeezing your bear the surgeon gave you regretting the fact you didn't give yourself enough time to just come in and go to bed. The dog has now claimed his portion of the bed and he was so generous with what he left you. Look at all that room between his butt and the bed edge.
Puking, not my favorite subject. Oh man first you feel pain. Thus the holding the bear. He's a very firm bear for you to hold when you cough. He has a red bow around his neck but he also has green scrubs and a surgery mask. I still haven't named him as yet. Any suggestions? Here is a picture I took of him from my hospital bed.
Finally the news I know you have waited for!
I have not as yet puked. I have lost 7 pounds since the surgery and 19 pounds since my initial consultation in March, My total inches lost since surgery is 10.5. :)
Wow!! Congratulations on your tremendous success thus far! I am so proud of you, Connie. Love you, Linda :-)
